Overview
In February 1914, against the backdrop of new naval programs, a series of designs for new Russian battleships were prepared. The projects were developed at the Putilov Plant with the participation of German specialists from Blohm & Voss and envisaged battleships with 356 mm and 406 mm artillery. The ship built according to Variant 7 would have had four triple turrets with 406 mm guns—two in each end. The project featured a superfiring arrangement of artillery and mixed coal-oil fired boilers. The ships were too large for the Baltic and were conceived as the foundation for a future ocean-going fleet.
