Overview
In 1914, the Naval Ministry created recommendations for a new battleship, based on developments from the Main Directorate of Shipbuilding. Engineers from the Putilov Shipyard developed several versions of this project. Structurally, the battleship would be based on an enlarged hull of the Izmail-class. Variant No. VIII was armed with twelve 406 mm guns in three turrets arranged in a linear-elevated pattern.
