Overview
A Soviet diesel-electric submarine, belonging to the last series of submarine minelayers of the 'Leninets' type (Series XIII-38). L-20 was laid down and launched at Plant No. 189 named after Ordzhonikidze in Leningrad. After the start of the Great Patriotic War, the submarine was transferred via the White Sea-Baltic Canal to Molotovsk, where it was completed and entered service with the Northern Fleet. During the war years, it made 14 combat sorties. In 1943, it took first place in tonnage of torpedoed targets among all submarines of the Northern Fleet. In June 1949, the submarine was renamed B-20, after which it was used in tests. It was decommissioned from the Navy in 1958.
