Overview
A hypothetical project of a Shimakaze-class destroyer, armed with a twin 127-mm universal naval gun mount. The new mount was developed towards the end of World War II; its key features were the use of unitary ammunition and an increased rate of fire. Equipped with such modern armament, this ship could have been significantly more effective in countering enemy aircraft at high altitudes and would have gained a firepower advantage in artillery duels with enemy light forces.
