Overview
The last, largest, and most advanced torpedo-artillery destroyers of the British fleet, the Daring class ships were a development of the previous Battle class. These destroyers received three twin universal gun mounts and three twin 40 mm anti-aircraft guns. Upon entering service, HMS Daring joined the Home Fleet. In August 1953, the destroyer participated in the rescue of the inhabitants of the island of Kefalonia from the effects of an earthquake.
