Overview
The next step in the development of German raider cruisers, based on the Admiral Hipper type, would have been the use of the latest artillery. 210 mm guns could have been used as the main caliber, and the ship could also have received 128 mm universal mounts, 55 mm twin AA mounts, and 30 mm quadruple and twin mounts. In this case, the ship's displacement could have exceeded 20,000 tons. A combined diesel-steam turbine electric plant, improved compared to those used in the 1930s, would have allowed combining high speed with long range.
