Overview
HMS Renown was laid down in 1915 and entered service in September 1916. The ship did not have time to participate in the combat operations of World War I. After undergoing modernization in the interwar period, during World War II, Renown participated in the hunt for the German raiders Graf Spee and Bismarck, in the Norwegian campaign, guarded the Malta convoys as part of Force H, and also carried out diplomatic service. In 1944, it was transferred to the Eastern Fleet and participated in the final stage of World War II.
