Overview
According to the developments of the Naval General Staff, destroyers of the 'Novik' type were to operate jointly with light cruisers of the 'Svetlana' class. However, the construction of the latter was delayed, so the commander of the Baltic Fleet, Vice Admiral A. Nepenin, appealed to the Naval General Staff with a request to install six or seven 130 mm guns on the modified 'Gogland'-type destroyers under construction. The preliminary design of such a ship was developed by ship engineer Colonel R. Matrosov. The project was reviewed in the first half of 1917 by specialists from the Main Directorate of Shipbuilding and raised many doubts. Further development of the project ceased in connection with the October Revolution.
