Overview
At the beginning of August 1937, the Defense Committee decided to abandon further construction of Project 7 ships and begin designing a new destroyer—taking into account the experience of the war in Spain. The tactical-technical assignment for the destroyer project, numbered 30, was approved in November 1937, and development was carried out by the design bureau of Plant No. 190 in Leningrad. The technical project was approved in October 1939. The lead ship, 'Ognevoi,' was built in Nikolaev at Plant No. 200 named after the 61 Communards. With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the hull of the unfinished ship was towed to Sevastopol and then to Batumi, where in March 1945, the destroyer entered service. It served as part of the Black Sea Fleet. In 1956, 'Ognevoi' was withdrawn from combat service and converted into a target ship TsL-2, and in 1958, it was removed from the lists.
