Overview
After the signing of the Washington Naval Treaty, the United Kingdom began designing cruisers. One of the enthusiasts of the development of a new type of cruiser was J. Thurston, who had previously developed the Kongō and Erin ships. In 1923, he published an essay in which he described the general features of future cruisers, and in 1926, he presented three cruiser designs for the Royal Navy: in one of them, the main caliber turrets were grouped in the forward section to achieve better concentration of fire.
