Overview
The second battleship of the Ise class was built at the Mitsubishi shipyard in Nagasaki. The ship did not fight in the First World War but participated in the intervention in Soviet Russia. The battleship was modernized in two stages in 1927–28 and 1931–32, and underwent a significant reconstruction in 1934–36, which included strengthening its armor and power plant. By the start of the Second World War, the ship was considered obsolete and saw almost no combat action in the Pacific.
