Overview
A battleship of Project 23bis developed in 1939 to address deficiencies revealed in the Sovetsky Soyuz-class and intended to be used in the next series of battleships. The project provided for the redesign of the defense systems, including armor and torpedo protection, and strengthening the anti-aircraft armament. The use of a four-turret armament configuration was also considered, but it was deemed unviable due to its excessively large displacement. Eventually, not a single ship of Project 23bis was ever laid down.
