Overview
After revising the development plan of the Japanese Navy, new battleships and battlecruisers were ordered. This is how Project L emerged—an expanded version of Project A, which became the Kii class. She also had five main battery turrets housing 457 mm guns. However, the project's displacement exceeded that of the Kii class by 9,000 tons, resulting in a cost surge.
