Overview
To compensate for losses in destroyers during World War I, construction of the 1916 type—'mobilization'—ships began in the autumn of 1916. The next project was the 1917 type, construction of which began in 1918 at the Vulcan Stettin, Schichau, and Howaldtswerke shipyards. In terms of design, this type was an enlarged variant of the previous one, with one additional main battery gun. Ships of this project were the first German destroyers to receive turbine-gear units as the main engine. No ship was launched due to the end of World War I.
