Overview
Namikaze, a Minekaze-class destroyer, was built at the Maizuru Naval Arsenal. In 1942, it was in the reserve group for the Aleutian operation, later engaged in patrol duties. From December 1943, it was used for convoy escort. In 1944, the destroyer was hit by a torpedo from the submarine USS Seal and was sent to Maizuru for repair and conversion into a kaiten carrier. In the summer of 1945, it was used as a minesweeper. After the end of World War II, the ship evacuated Japanese soldiers, and in 1947 it was transferred to China as reparations, where it was named Shenyang. In 1949, it passed to the Taiwanese Navy, where it served until 1960.
