Overview
In 1949–56, a program of scientific and technical assistance operated between the USSR and the PRC, within which the Soviet side transferred, among other things, blueprints for prospective warships to China. In particular, China was given the technical documentation for the Project 41 destroyer. In their original form, ships of this project were not built in China, but in 1968–87, 15 Type 051 (Luda-class) missile destroyers were built, which were based on the Soviet Project 41.
