Overview
According to the plans for the development of the Japanese fleet, in the late 1910s, it was intended to build six cruisers based on an improved design of the Tenryū-class. These ships were to carry an additional fifth main-caliber gun and achieve a lighter hull through a series of new design solutions. The project was not realized, and its further development led to the emergence of the Kuma-class cruisers.
