Overview
The Project 68-bis cruiser 'Ordzhonikidze' was built at Plant No. 194 in Leningrad and joined the 4th (former South Baltic) Fleet. In 1955, the Baltic Fleet was reunified, and the cruiser became part of it. In 1955, the cruiser arrived in Portsmouth on an official visit by Soviet leaders to the UK. During this visit, a British underwater commando died in an incident. In 1961, the cruiser transferred to the Black Sea Fleet. In 1962, 'Ordzhonikidze' was transferred to the Indonesian Navy, where it was named Irian. The cruiser served in the Indonesian fleet until 1972.
