Overview
A representative of a class of Spanish interwar destroyers. These ships were based on the British Scott-class flotilla leaders, making them larger and more capable than earlier Spanish designs. Two destroyers were sold to Argentina during construction where they proved their capabilities by reaching high speeds during sea trials. In 1941, the Argentine Navy reclassified the ships as torpedo boats. Cervantes had a turbulent service history, suffering damage during the coup against President Perón. She was finally decommissioned in 1961.
