Overview
Polish destroyer Błyskawica saw action from the very first days of World War II. Throughout the war, she underwent several rearmaments at British shipyards. In 1951, a few years after the war ended, the ship was modernized again: her British 102 mm main battery barrels were replaced with Soviet 100 mm guns, and all anti-aircraft and anti-submarine systems were substituted with Soviet-made systems. After this modernization, Błyskawica served in the Polish Navy for nearly a quarter of a century before becoming a museum ship in Gdynia.
