Overview
According to the ten-year military shipbuilding program of 1945, it was planned to build 226 'standard' destroyers. Some of them were to belong to the well-mastered Project 30-bis, the rest—to a new type. The development of a destroyer with universal artillery was carried out by the fleet's subordinate design bureau TsNIIVK. TsKB-53 also presented its project. In the summer of 1947, the tactical-technical assignment for the Project 41 destroyer was approved. In August 1948, the preliminary design was approved, and in September 1949—the technical design. 'Neustrashimy' was built at Plant No. 190 named after Zhdanov in Leningrad and served as part of the Baltic Fleet until 1974. A total of 110 destroyers of this type were planned for construction, but serial production of such a complex ship was abandoned in favor of Project 56 destroyers.
