Overview
The naval shipbuilding program for 1933-38 included the construction of 50 destroyers. The preliminary tactical-technical assignment for the design of a new destroyer was issued in October 1929. The review of pre-draft projects continued for three years. In the summer of 1932, a delegation of the USSR Navy visited Italy, where they familiarized themselves with the new Maestrale-class destroyers. It was decided to take this type of ship as the basis for designing new destroyers for the Soviet fleet. In October 1932, a new tactical-technical assignment was approved. The project was developed by TsKBS-1, and the technical project, numbered 7, was approved in December 1934. 'Gnevny' was built at Plant No. 190 named after Zhdanov in Leningrad. The destroyer was lost on June 23, 1941, after hitting a German minefield.
