Overview
Wisconsin, an Iowa-class fast battleship, was among the final battleships to be commissioned worldwide. She contributed to the closing stages of the Pacific campaign by escorting aircraft carriers and shelling coastal fortifications occupied by Japanese forces. Beyond World WarĀ II, Wisconsin actively engaged in conflicts in Korea and the Persian Gulf. After colliding with a destroyer inĀ 1956, she underwent restoration, receiving a new bow section from her unfinished sister ship, USSĀ Kentucky. Since 2001, Wisconsin has been a museum ship permanently berthed inĀ Norfolk.
