Overview
A large artillery cruiser design (UP 102) proposed by Italian company Ansaldo for Romania during a period of intense naval cooperation between the two countries. The ship was intended to be an equivalent of the German Deutschland-class "pocket battleship" and would carry a new 280 mm main battery in addition to dual-purpose 120 mm secondary guns, both of which had to be developed specifically for this project. However, Italy's entry into the war prevented the implementation of the design.
