Overview
A large destroyer with powerful armament, built at the British shipyard in Cowes, ORP Błyskawica played an active role in military operations in the European theater during World War II. She supported Allied actions during the Norwegian campaign and the Dunkirk evacuation in the spring of 1940. In May 1942, ORP Błyskawica defended her home shipyard on the Isle of Wight from a Luftwaffe raid, and in the summer of 1944, she engaged German ships while supporting the Normandy landings. Today, ORP Błyskawica is a museum ship at the Naval Museum in Gdynia, Poland.
