Overview
In 1911, a competition was announced for the design of a 34-knot destroyer for the Black Sea Fleet, and the basis for the tactical-technical specifications was the modern destroyer 'Novik,' under construction in Germany. The winner was the project of the Putilov Plant, and in the fall of 1912, the construction of the first destroyers of this type began in Nikolaev. 'Derzkiy' was laid down in October 1913, launched in March 1914, and entered service in October of the same year. The ship participated in World War I, taking part in raiding, patrol, and escort operations. In June 1918, the ship was captured by German troops, and in December, it came under the control of the British command. The ship underwent repairs in Malta and was then transferred to Wrangel's fleet. In November 1920, 'Derzkiy' left Crimea and arrived in Bizerta, where it was interned by the French authorities.
