Overview
The second ship of the King George V class, Prince of Wales, saw action in major naval battles despite her short active service life. During the Battle of the Denmark Strait in May 1941, a hit from her main battery forced German battleship Bismarck to abandon her Atlantic raid. Later the same year, Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse were deployed to the Pacific, where both ships were sunk by Japanese aircraft during a massive air raid on December 10, 1941.
