Missouri
USS Missouri, the third Iowa-class battleship, was laid down in 1941 and launched three years later. During World War II, she served in the Pacific Theater. On September 2, 1945, the Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed on the battleship. Between 1950 and 1953, the ship participated in the Korean War. In 1984, the battleship was modernized—guided missiles were installed. In 1991, she participated in Operation Desert Storm. Missouri received 11 battle stars for her service; she is now a museum ship in Pearl Harbor.
